Eliminating Health
Disparities Initiatives
Service Overview
The Korean Service Center is dedicated to promoting mental health awareness within the Korean immigrant community and supporting individuals in leading healthier, more balanced lives. We are also committed to reducing disparities in access to mental health services and creating a welcoming environment where everyone feels comfortable seeking the support they need.
As part of Minnesota Department of Health's Eliminating Health Disparities Initiative (EHDI), we collaborate with the Karen Organization of Minnesota, the Korean Adoptees Ministry Center, and SEWA-AIFW to offer community-based education programs and family-focused trainings. Through these collaborations, we also offer outreach initiatives that help reduce stigma around mental health, along with counseling services for community members.
Through these efforts, we aim to prevent mental health challenges, strengthen families and communities, and foster a healthier safer, and more supportive environment for all.

Mental Health Awareness Campaign
We conduct a variety of campaigns aimed at increasing understanding of mental health within the Korean immigrant community and reducing stigma surrounding mental health-related issues. We also actively promote the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline to ensure that community members can access timely support when needed, and to foster an environment where mental health is prioritized and openly addressed.
The Korean Service Center, in collaboration with NAMI Minnesota, offers a range of suicide prevention programs, including QPR and SafeTALK. Through these efforts, we strive to support the continued growth of a healthier and safer community.
